From Reflection to Renewal: Growing Wellbeing Together in Midland
By Kathy Snyder & Ashley Ghose, Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition
This is the 8th time we’ve facilitated the Midland Wellbeing Certificate since launching it in spring of 2024 - and here’s what we consistently find: when people pause - together - growth happens.
Earlier this year, we welcomed a group of community members into our winter session, Reflection and Restoration. They came from different workplaces, roles, and life experiences, but with a shared curiosity about how to care for their wellbeing in a more intentional way.
What unfolded was more than a workshop. It was a collective reset.
Throughout the day, people slowed down - something that doesn’t come easily in our fast-paced world. They reflected, connected, and practiced tools designed to help them feel good, struggle well, and function effectively. And in that shared space, something shifted.
Bethany reflected on how rare and meaningful that pause was, sharing that taking time for personal reflection enhanced her learning in a way that felt both supportive and needed. Jessica Blewett spoke about the energy in the room - how powerful it was to connect with others who genuinely want to care for themselves and contribute to the wellbeing of the broader community.
We consistently hear that participants leave with tools they can actually use. Jenn described gaining practical ways to support her own wellbeing while also bringing those ideas back to her team. And Heather’s takeaway captured something we believe deeply: learning to accept that it’s okay to not be okay is a meaningful step toward struggling well.
These aren’t just nice moments - they’re signals of something bigger happening across Midland.
The certificate is intentionally designed as part of an ongoing journey. Each quarter offers a new experience, with tools aligned to the season. Winter invites reflection and restoration. Spring focuses on renewal and growth. Summer centers on nourishment and vitality. Fall explores harmony and transition. Some participants return again and again - not to repeat the same experience, but to build on it in new ways.
And the day itself is just one part of that journey.
We’ve built in opportunities for continued connection and learning - because wellbeing doesn’t happen in isolation or in a single moment. The certificate is an intentional pause point, a chance to go deeper in community before stepping back into daily life with greater clarity, support, and momentum.
A key part of each experience is hearing directly from community leaders who are working - across sectors and organizations - to advance Midland’s shared vision. They help make visible how wellbeing is already woven into the fabric of our community, and how, together, we can continue moving that vision forward.
As Emily Doyle shared after the winter session, the experience offered actionable strategies while also improving wellbeing in the moment through connection. That combination - practical tools and meaningful relationships - is where we see real change begin.
This story reflects what we’re building together in Midland: an inclusive community. Together. Forward. Bold. An exceptional place where everyone thrives.
And if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s this: wellbeing grows when we create the space for it - together.
The next opportunity to join is the spring Renewal and Growth certificate on April 27. Whether you’re returning or attending for the first time, it’s a chance to build momentum alongside others in the community. To learn more or register, visit midlandareawellbeing.org/midland-wellbeing-certificate
