  • Max is all of us. Max is an avatar to represent all the people in Midland County.

  • Midland County. The Michigan one, not the Texas one. Also, not in Canada... USA, USA!!

  • Max Loves Midland is a collective vitality initiative amongst various organizations within Midland County. The Midland Area Community Foundation serves as the backbone, but is not the sole backer.

The Max Loves Midland Advisory Committee comprises vast community voices and representation. This group meets quarterly to receive an update on progress, and to learn about areas where the Communities of Excellence process is delivering results. Advisory Committee members are encouraged to join any working group to help advance the Communities of Excellence effort and accelerate our goals. Our Communities of Excellence Community Coach is Dr. Kristin Stehouwer. Our Communities of Excellence Curriculum is crafted by Sharon Mortensen, Lou Mencia, and Bob Plishka.

  • Communities of Excellence 2026 (COE 2026) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that hosts a national learning collaborative of communities across the country, trains communities in the Baldrige-based Communities of Excellence Framework, and provides opportunities for communities to work together, share successes, challenges, ideas and best practices, and learn from each other on their performance excellence journey. Learn more here.

  • It’s easy! Visit the community calendar page to submit your community event. Fill out the form in its entirety and be sure to attach an image or flyer as an attention grabber. Your submission will need to be reviewed and approved before it will appear on the calendar, so please be patient with me!

If you have a recurring event just let me know in the comments section and I can make it magically reappear on the calendar every two weeks… the third Friday of each month… whatever you need. If there are just a couple dates it repeats, I can do that too.

Don’t forget to use keywords to help people easily find your event and be associate with events like it. Great keywords include: family, art, education, free, peacock friendly, social, religious, outdoor, music.

You can also indicate what region of Midland County your event takes place using keywords. I like to break things down into these areas: Downtown, Midtown, Center City, Jefferson Corridor, Eastman Corridor, North Midland (Larkin/Hope/Midland County), West Midland, (Shepherd/Homer), Coleman, Sanford, Bullock Creek, Bay City Road Corridor

  • Bad news, you can’t. Good news, I can! Use the website’s contact page or shoot me an email hello@maxlovesmidland.com and I can edit.

PS - In this instance, VIP means very informed person… or very interested person… or maybe even vibrant indignant peacock… I haven’t decided yet.
