Voices of Black Midland is a living, digital exhibit featuring the oral histories of Black residents who have shaped Midland's story. Created by Anti-Racist Midland and supported as an initiative of the Cultural Awareness Coalition through the Midland Area Community Foundation and in partnership with Midland County Historical Society, the project invites us to listen, learn, and reflect on the lived experiences of our Black community members.
The project will mark the milestone year with a celebration to honor those who envisioned and created the project, as well as those who shared their stories; to honor our present efforts by highlighting engagement with the project through our oral history listening series; and to honor our future by releasing the digital toolkit designed to enable learners near and far to engage with the oral histories, and host their own discussion series.
Those unable to attend are encouraged to visit voicesofblackmidland.com to explore and listen to the oral histories.
