Give Local Midland Returns on May 5
Give Local Midland, the Midland Area Community Foundation’s annual 24-hour giving event for nonprofit endowment funds held at the Foundation, returns on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. This year’s event will feature over 85 local nonprofits working to raise dollars to support their critical work today and for generations to come.
Since its inception in 2014, Give Local Midland has focused on building long-term sustainability for nonprofit organizations throughout Midland County. The giving day continues to serve as a powerful opportunity for community members to come together in support of the causes they care about most.
“Give Local Midland is a meaningful opportunity for our community to come together and support the organizations that make Midland County a stronger, more vibrant place to live,” said Sharon Mortensen, President and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation. “Each gift, no matter the size, contributes to long-term sustainability for our local nonprofits.”
On May 5, every donation made to participating organizations at www.GiveLocalMidland.org will help nonprofits grow their endowed funds. Gifts made that day will be directed to the spendable portion of the nonprofit's endowment funds, enabling immediate impact. At the same time, a generous match pool of over $65,000, supported by the Community Foundation and its donors, will be distributed proportionally among participating nonprofit endowment funds and invested in the permanent portion of funds, supporting long-term sustainability.
“What sets Give Local Midland apart is its focus on building permanent endowment funds for local nonprofits,” said Mortensen. “This approach ensures that the impact of each donation extends far beyond a single day.”
Throughout the 24-hour giving day, participating nonprofits will compete for $3,000 additional prize dollars. These prizes are designed to reward creativity, donor engagement, and participation at key times throughout the day, encouraging organizations to rally their supporters and expand their reach.
Give Local Midland also provides nonprofits with an opportunity to share their stories, connect with new audiences, and highlight the important work happening across Midland County. With more than 85 organizations participating this year, donors will have a wide range of causes, aligning with the Community Foundation’s four broad focus areas of building our livelihood, developing our talent, caring for our people, and enriching our community.
Giving is simple. Community members can visit www.GiveLocalMidland.org at any time on May 5 to make a secure online donation by credit or debit card. All participating organizations are listed on the site, and the minimum donation amount is just $5, reinforcing the idea that anyone can be a philanthropist.
For those who prefer to give by cash or check, donations can be dropped off at the Midland Area Community Foundation’s office at 76 Ashman Circle by 5 PM on May 5.
