MBA Business Spotlight: Rebecca Moore of Bricks & Minifigs of Midland

This spotlight series is from The Midland Business Alliance.

The Midland Business Alliance is continuing their spotlight series, introducing the remarkable individuals behind Midland’s businesses. This time they sat down with Rebecca Moore of Bricks & Minifigs Midland! This is a unique shop that could’ve opened anywhere in the country, but chose to call Midland home.

When Rebecca and her family relocated to Midland, she never imagined that opening a LEGO-themed resale and retail shop would be her next chapter. But like many great stories, it started with a small spark—or in this case, a scoop of LEGO bricks from a bulk table.

Before Bricks & Minifigs, Rebecca had spent her career working in higher education and as a federal employee. After relocating to Midland and taking a breather from her demanding roles, she found herself working as a crossing guard, enjoying the calm and the connection with kids. “So many of the kids would talk about LEGO,” she recalls. “And I thought, this town could really use a Bricks & Minifigs.”

The idea stuck. She reached out to the Bricks & Minifigs corporate office, and after a review of the data, they agreed: Midland was a perfect match. The concept quickly evolved from a daydream to a reality.

Today, Bricks & Minifigs Midland is a hub for LEGO fans of all ages. "We strive to make LEGO accessible and affordable for every child, no matter the family budget," Rebecca shared. From bulk tables where kids can build for fun to the popular $5 "allowance case," the store is designed to spark creativity and connection.

"It’s about intelligent play that feels like fun," she added. “LEGO is engineering, robotics, creativity, design—so much more than people think.”

Rebecca also has plans to deepen the shop's community impact, from hosting STEM and robotics events for homeschoolers to participating in local health fairs and bringing LEGO building opportunities to seniors. “We want this space to be more than just retail. We want to be a part of what makes Midland vibrant,” she said.

The shop has already become a community destination. When Bricks & Minifigs Midland quietly opened its doors during a soft launch, word spread quickly. One grandmother visited with three different sets of grandchildren and now builds her own LEGO dioramas. Rebecca even helps her track down rare pieces.

Midland, she says, played a pivotal role in making all of this possible. “We looked at living just about anywhere—even Canada,” she said with a smile. “But when we came here for events, we fell in love. The green space, the community, the way people come together. It felt right.”

As Bricks & Minifigs heads into its second year, Rebecca hopes to stabilize, grow, and continue building meaningful connections. “I’d love to see my family carry the torch one day,” she said. “But for now, I’m focused on growing something that contributes to the community. That’s what matters most.”
