Protect Your Health During Respiratory Virus Season
The Midland County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) is encouraging individuals to take action to protect themselves and those around them during respiratory virus season.
The Respiratory Virus Guidance provided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) outlines steps to stay healthy, and what to do if you become ill:
MDHHS has also summarized the 2025-2026 Respiratory Vaccine Recommendations:
For those seeking vaccine protection from COVID-19, it is important to know that while “COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for everyone age 6 months and older, many medical practices in Midland County will not carry the COVID-19 vaccine this respiratory virus season,” shares MCDPH Medical Director Dr. Catherine M. Bodnar, MD, MPH. “Pharmacies often carry the COVID-19 vaccine; however, they only vaccinate children age 3 and older. Some pharmacies are further limited, only providing COVID-19 vaccine to children age 5 and older, or in some cases age 12 and older. We recommend that individuals scheduling with their medical provider or pharmacy confirm that the vaccine(s) they want are offered and determine if there are any age restrictions.”
The Midland County Department of Public Health offers vaccines (including Flu and COVID-19) for individuals age 6 months and older. MCDPH staff are working diligently to remove barriers for individuals seeking vaccine protection this respiratory virus season by providing multiple options to receive vaccines:
