Midland Area Community Foundation Looks Back on May with Gratitude Following Record-Breaking Give Local Midland

The Midland Area Community Foundation is looking back on the month of May with gratitude following a record-breaking Give Local Midland, the Foundation’s annual 24-hour giving event supporting nonprofit endowment funds held at the Community Foundation.

This year’s Give Local Midland raised $766,480 in contributions and matching funds from 912 donors through 2,171 gifts. In total, 88 local organizations raised dollars to support their work today and for generations to come, making this year’s event the most successful Give Local Midland in its history.

“Give Local Midland continues to show what is possible when a community comes together to support long-term sustainability for nonprofits,” said Sharon Mortensen, President and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to every donor, nonprofit partner, volunteer, and community member who helped make this year’s event such a meaningful success. These gifts strengthen the organizations that provide critical support, resources, and enrichment to our community.”

Since its inception in 2014, Give Local Midland has focused on building long-term sustainability for local nonprofit organizations. Donations made during the event support participating nonprofit endowment funds at the Community Foundation. Gifts help create immediate impact through the spendable portion of each fund, while matching dollars are invested in the permanent portion of the funds to support organizations well into the future.

“What sets Give Local Midland apart is its focus on lasting impact,” added Mortensen. “Each gift is more than a contribution to a single day of fundraising. It is an investment in the long-term strength of local nonprofits and the people they serve.”

Throughout the 24-hour giving day, participating organizations also competed for additional prize dollars designed to encourage creativity, donor engagement, and participation at key points.

Prize winners from Give Local Midland included:
