Give Local Midland returns on May 6, 2025, supporting over 80 nonprofit endowment funds

Give Local Midland, the Midland Area Community Foundation's annual 24-hour giving event for nonprofit organizations with endowed funds, returns on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. This year's event will feature over 80 local nonprofit endowment funds working to raise dollars to support their missions today and for future generations.

Since its inception in 2014, Give Local Midland has created a cumulative impact of over $3.6 million for Midland County nonprofits.

"Give Local Midland is one of my favorite days each year because it's such a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together to support the organizations that make it special. It's a day to celebrate long-term community transformation," said Sharon Mortensen, President & CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation. "Whether you give $5 or $500, every gift helps build a stronger, more sustainable future for nonprofits in our community."

On May 6, every donation made to participating organizations at www.GiveLocalMidland.org will help nonprofits grow their endowed funds. Gifts made that day will be directed to the spendable portion of nonprofit endowment funds, allowing for immediate impact. At the same time, a generous match pool—currently totaling over $69,000 contributed by the Community Foundation and its Donor Advised Fundholders—will be split by Give Local participants based on their percentage of the giving day's contributions and deposited into the permanent portion of funds, supporting long-term sustainability.

In addition, Three Bridges Distillery and Taproom is partnering with Give Local Midland this year to boost the match pool. For every drink purchased at Three Bridges on May 6, one dollar will be contributed to the matching funds pool.

"This creative partnership with Three Bridges is a fun way to unite people while supporting Give Local Midland," said Mortensen. "We're grateful for their commitment to helping local nonprofits thrive."

Throughout the 24-hour giving day, participating nonprofits will compete for $3,000 in additional prizes. These prizes reward organizations for engaging their supporters creatively, encouraging donors to give during specific times, or rallying the highest number of individual donors.

"Give Local Midland provides nonprofits with an opportunity not only to raise funds but also to share their story, engage new supporters, and celebrate the incredible work happening in Midland County," said Mortensen.

Giving is simple. Community members can visit www.GiveLocalMidland.org anytime on May 6 to make a secure online donation via credit card. All participating organizations are listed on the site. The minimum donation amount is only $5.

Donations can be dropped off at the Midland Area Community Foundation office at 76 Ashman Circle by 3 PM on May 6 for those who prefer to give via cash or check.
