The ROCK Center for Youth Development Achieves State Licensing for Four Afterschool Sites

The Michigan Department of Lifelong Education Advancement and Potential (MiLEAP) has issued licenses to all four of The ROCK Center For Youth Development’s Out-of-School Time locations at Jefferson Middle School, Northeast Middle School, Meridian Junior High School and Delta College. This achievement reflects The ROCK’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of youth participating in its afterschool programs.

Jill Deitsch, Out-of-School Time Director said, “Licensing was a great deal of work, but definitely worth it. It is great to have the validation from the state that our program and staff are well prepared to give students the Out-of-School space and experience they deserve at all four of our sites.”

During the organization’s first state inspections in spring of 2025, The ROCK Center for Youth Development received outstanding feedback from the state inspectors. The organization received praise for administrative excellence, strong staffing, respectful student behavior, and the welcoming, engaging environment of programs. Through facility licensing, The ROCK has raised the standard for afterschool care in Michigan.

Licensing is a critical process that ensures health and safety standards are met, providing a secure environment for youth to engage in enriching and developmentally appropriate activities. The Child Care Licensing Bureau performs state licensing regulatory duties as required by state laws and federal requirements. The bureau program is designed to protect the health, safety and welfare of children receiving care and services in licensed child care settings.
