MyPros Spotlight: Rhiannon Gonzales

Midland Young Professionals (MYPros) is highlighting their MYPros members and what they love about Midland. In this edition, we will get to know Rhiannon Gonzales, Destination Ambassador - Midland County at Go Great Lakes Bay.
Rhiannon moved to Midland recently, but has been working in and connected to the community for years. Originally from Hemlock, she moved to Saginaw while attending Saginaw Valley State University.
“I've always been in the Great Lakes Bay Region area, which is really cool now that I'm working for Go Great Lakes Bay,” she said. “I never wanted to leave this area and now it's kind of serendipitous that I have a job that's promoting this area.”
As the Midland Destination Ambassador for Go Great Lakes Bay — the Convention & Visitors Bureau for the region — Rhiannon answers questions from visitors and locals. She offers travel advice and provides resources on things to do in Midland or places to stay.
Rhiannon loves everything Midland has to offer and particularly enjoys Downtown Midland with the Pedestrian Plaza, the live concerts in the summer and all the opportunity to shop and eat local. She has also loved taking classes at Allied Group Fitness and would recommend everyone try it at least once - though you’ll likely find yourself coming back again and again.
Rhiannon admires how Midland consistently invests in itself, whether it’s through the arts, leadership programs or economic development initiatives like those at the Midland Business Alliance.
“Midland is doing a good job of making this a place where people want to live and that's what a community should do,” she said.
As a MYPros member, Rhiannon has enjoyed getting to know more people around the community and making new friends.
“I tell people all the time to join MYPros for the networking and the camaraderie,” she said. “With MYPros, not only do you get to do all that professional networking, but you get to do it with people who are around your age and probably are going through the same things that you are. It’s just easier to talk to, easier to connect.”
