Midland Young Professionals (MYPros) is highlighting their MYPros members and what they love about Midland. In this edition, we will get to know Joelle Jacobs, the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for Midland County.

Joelle moved back to Midland about a year-and-a-half ago. After growing up in Midland, Joelle moved to New Mexico for a few years after college.

In her role, she does social media and community outreach for the Emergency Management Department — helping the public be prepared for emergencies. She also keeps operating procedures and policy up-to-date and works on emergency preparedness for the County and the City.

Joelle partakes in many activities across Midland, but is especially fond of reading. She enjoys the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library and is part of a book club in town. She also has a dog and loves to explore the wide variety of parks in the city.

“Midland is a very active community, so I do lots of things,” she said. “There is always something to do in Midland and I’m usually participating in it.”

Joelle enjoys the MYPros as a space to meet new people and learn from them.

“People come from different walks of life and backgrounds,” she said. “I like learning about people and what they do and why they like MYPros.”

Joelle encourages all young professionals to join MYPros, especially if they are looking to meet more people or are looking for a new job, possibly even in a new career field.

“MYPros is a great way to network and learn from other people. There's lots of opportunities for people to grow and move and figure out what they want to do, and the MYPros really help,” she said. “They're big advocates — like cheerleaders for each other in our community.”
